Hey guys,
Hope you all had a relaxed and probably a much deserved weekend! I for myself went to a friend’s house where we did a small high-school reunion on a terrace with refreshments and of course PIZZA!
While walking through the streets of Tirana on the late afternoon hours, I passed by this building which you see on today’s photo. What you see there is the “University of Tirana” which was built in the 1940’s by Italian Architects during the communist regime and at the same time was a very important center for democratic movements. Since then, the building has remained pretty much the same as it was when it was first founded.
As you may see on the picture, this square has lately become a drive-free space. People use it as a meeting place to get together with friends and hang out, cycle around, sit on concrete stairs aside and around the University viewing the sunset... or (as a personal tip of mine if you happen to visit Tirana one day) try to get into the building to get on the building’s roof top (Korpusi). You get an amazing perspective on Tirana since this road cuts nothing but a straight line through the city, ending at the center of Tirana, the Skanderbeg Square (Sheshi Skenderbej). Believe me, the view and the atmosphere at sunset or sunrise are amazing!
This is something I often do and what everyone should do when they get a chance: to sit back and embrace your surroundings!
Having said that, I wish you all a great week!
